Zoho announced Zia Chat on 23 September 2026. It’s a single chat window that sits across your Zoho apps. You ask a question in plain English, and it pulls the answer from CRM, Desk, Books and the rest. It can also carry out tasks for you.

We’ve gone through everything Zoho has published so far. Here’s what Zia Chat does, what it will cost, and the catch for UK businesses.

What is Zia Chat?

Zia Chat is a separate Zoho product. It connects to the data and settings you already have in your Zoho apps. You ask one question, and it checks CRM, Desk and Books for you.

Zoho gives a monthly renewal check as an example. First you find renewals in CRM. Then you check open tickets in Desk and overdue invoices in Books. Finally you work out who is at risk and write the follow-ups.

Zoho puts that at 45 to 60 minutes a month done by hand. With the new tool, Zoho says it takes under five minutes, and you can schedule it to run every month. Those are Zoho’s figures, so we’ll test them once we have access.

Zoho has published the full details on the Zia Chat page.

What it can do

According to Zoho, it can:

  • Work across more than 45 Zoho apps, including CRM, Desk, Books, Mail, Projects, People, Analytics, Cliq, Marketing and Inventory
  • Turn your data into reports or presentations
  • Draft emails and follow-ups
  • Hand tasks to Zia Agents, which can update deal stages, escalate tickets, send emails, assign tasks and run multi-step workflows
  • Connect to non-Zoho apps through MCP (Model Context Protocol)
  • Return live records you can open and act on from the chat

Users can also switch between role-based Profiles, depending on the job they’re doing.

Examples for sales, support and finance

Zoho has published examples for each team. Three stand out for the businesses we work with:

  • Sales: ask which deals closing this month have gone cold, have open tickets or have unpaid invoices. You get a ranked list.
  • Support: before a difficult call, ask for a customer’s support history, open issues, active projects and recent conversations.
  • Finance: find overdue invoices, check whether that customer has a deal in negotiation, then draft a payment reminder.

Each of these needs your apps linked properly. For example, if Desk contacts aren’t matched to CRM accounts, the AI can’t join the dots.

Will staff see data they shouldn’t?

Zoho says no. Zia Chat follows the roles and permissions already set in each app. If a user can’t open a module in CRM or a record in Books, it won’t fetch it for them. Also, if a user can view a record but can’t edit it, it can’t edit it either.

However, this cuts both ways. It will show people everything their current permissions allow. So if your sales team can see every invoice in Books today, they’ll see them through the chat too. Now is a good time to review your roles and profiles.

Admins also control which users get access at all.

Does Zia Chat train AI on your data?

Zoho says your business data is not used to train AI models. Zoho processes it to answer your request and stops there.

For the AI itself, it uses Bring Your Own Key (BYOK). That means you plug in your own API key from a supported AI provider. Right now that’s OpenAI only. Zoho plans to add Anthropic and others later.

Zoho will also offer its own hosted Zia LLM in selected regions. That option keeps all processing inside Zoho.

Can UK businesses use Zia Chat yet?

This is the catch. Zia Chat currently runs only in Zoho’s India and US data centres. Zoho says more regions will follow in the coming months, but it hasn’t given dates.

Most UK businesses on Zoho are hosted in Zoho’s EU data centre. The quickest way to check is your login address:

  • zoho.eu means you’re on the EU data centre, so you’ll need to wait.
  • zoho.com means you’re on the US data centre, so you can request early access now.

It also works in English only for now.

How much does it cost?

Early access is free. Zoho will announce pricing and licensing at General Availability. Zoho also plans to include it in bundles such as Zoho One, but it hasn’t confirmed the details.

Because of BYOK, AI usage runs through your own OpenAI account. So factor that cost in on top of any Zoho licence.

How to get your Zoho ready for Zia Chat

Zia Chat answers from your records. So if your CRM is full of duplicates and blank fields, you’ll get confident answers built on bad data. Here’s what we’d do now:

  1. Check your data centre. Look at your login URL and watch for your region going live.
  2. Clean your CRM data. Merge duplicates, fill key fields and remove dead records.
  3. Link your apps. Make sure Desk, Books and Projects records connect to the right CRM accounts and contacts.
  4. Review roles and permissions. The AI inherits them, so tighten anything that’s too open.
  5. Pick who goes first. Start with one team, then widen access once you trust the answers.
